Manually Setup L2TP / IPSec on Windows 10


  • 1. Click on Start at the bottom left of your screen and then click on “Settings”.
  • 2. Open your windows setting and then click on “Network & Internet”
  • 3. Select “VPN” there on the left side.
  • 4. Click on “Add a VPN Connection”.
  • 5. Do the following
    • a. Select ‘VPN Provider’ as “Windows Built in”.
    • b. ‘Connection name’ as per your choice, such as "CasVPN L2TP".
    • c. In ‘Server name or address’, input your desired server address, such as I entered Canada server address here. You can get the complete list of server addresses from here
    • d. In ‘VPN Type’ select “L2TP/IPSec with pre-shared key”
  • 6. Scroll down if required and do the following.
    • a. In ‘Type of sign-in info’, select "User name and password".
    • b. Enter your username and password provided by CASVPN.
    • c. Check “Remember my sign-in info”.
    • d. Then click on the “Save” button to progress further.
  • 7. Now in ‘Network & Internet’ window, scroll down if required and click "Change adapter options".
  • 8. Right click on the L2TP connection you just created and open properties.
  • 9. In 'Security' tab, click on “Advanced settings”.
  • 10. Select “Use preshared key for authentication” and write "123456789" below. Now press “OK”.
  • 11. Now in ‘Data encryption’ drop down menu, select “” Require encryption, (disconnect if server declines)”.
  • 12. In the ‘Networking’ tab, uncheck “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/ IPv6)” and “File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks”.
  • 13. Now come back to ‘Network & Internet’ window, and click on your L2TP connection.
  • 14. Click on “Connect”.
  • 15. You will be connected in a few seconds.

How to Disconnect

  • 1.When you need to disconnect, click on CasVPN L2TP connection and select “Disconnect”.

How to Change Server

  • 1. Disconnect from VPN as mentioned in above heading, then click “Advanced options”
  • 2. Click “Edit”
  • 3. Remove previously written server address, input your desired one and click “Save”
  • 4. Now click on the back button.
  • 5. Select CasVPN L2TP connection and click “Connect”. You will be connected to your desired server.
